Why I Recommend Clearplay
My wife and I have used Clearplay for several years now and love it.
It is better than the editing that happens for television, because it takes mutes out instances where the Lord’s name is taken in vain. I remember watching a movie several months ago in a setting where I didn’t have Clearplay available, and found myself suprised when they took the Lord’s name in vain. I was so used to Clearplay taking care of that. It has also enabled us to see movies that we couldn’t have seen otherwise (e.g. Jerry Maguire, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Matrix).
The dvd player comes with a USB stick that has software on it to download filters from the clearplay website. You plug that USB stick into your computer when you put the DVD in and it automatically downloads the appropriate filter onto the machine.
I recommended Clearplay to some non-lds friends at work, and one teased me about how some movies would be very, very short with Clearplay involved. That’s true, but those are exactly the kind of movies I avoid, Clearplay or no Clearplay. Clearplay is ideal for movies that have one or two scenes that are essentially gratuitious and not needed for the movie. A perfect example of this is Jerry Maguire. It is an inspiring movie, and when you watch it on Clearplay it won’t be clear why it was rated R. They did a great job of editing it.
If you don’t want to watch PG versions of PG-13 and R Rated movies (something Clearplay does marvelously) you can still benefit from having the DVD player censor out instances where the Lord’s name is taken in vain, or any swearing that may get into the PG version.
Anyways, we really like this product, which is why I put it on my website. If you’d like to buy it, please support debtfreesaints.org by clicking on the advertisement below to go to Clearplay to purchase it.
